I have spent the last 40 years working for Duke Power then Duke
Energy. The first 25 years I was building plants for the company. Two
coal burners then a Nuclear plant in York county SC. In 1990 our CEO
decided that I would make a lobbyist and he sent me to Columbia to the
State House. I watched and learned and represented Duke in Columbia for
the next 15 years. It was an interesting time to be a lobbyist in the
energy sector. People were trying deregulation all over the country but
it was not popular in SC. We were the only company willing to look at it
and it did not pass in SC. I had one step daughter and she struggled to
find herself and her son became our responsibility. He went to The
Citadel summer camp twice but when it came time to go to colege he chose
App State. He stayed one year at App State and the tranferred to NC
State to be closer to his girlfriend (later to be his wife). She is very
bright and finished Medical School at the top of her class. In December
of 2007 she is going to be the mother of twins(girls) and that will make
me a great grandfather. That is next major event in my life.I have had a
good life with the typical problems we all encounter. I have had knee
replacement and will probably have to do the other one in the future. In
the meantime I try to go to all the home football games and many of the
away games as I can. It was great to see everyone at the reunion and I
look forward to the next one !!!!!!!!!
