"Graveside services for Philip Brantley, 63, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Troy, who died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 after fighting a valiant battle with ALS will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Friday followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. at West Park Baptist Church, 8833 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, Tenn., 37923 with Pastor Bob St. John officiating. Mr. Brantley attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. and received his BS from Troy University, his Masters degree from UT Knoxville and did Missionary Work with the ESL program in China. He was a member of West Park Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U S Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jack and Jane Brantley; brother, Dr. James “Buddy” Brantley and a brother-in-law, Jerry Floyd. Survivors include his wife, Sondra Wallace Brantley, sons, Daniel and Pauline Brantley of Los Angeles and Patrick Brantley of Charleston, S.C., and Brian and Heidi Wallace of Knoxville; grandchildren, Rosemary and Alice Brantley of Los Angeles and Holly and William Wallace of Knoxville; sisters, Wiley White and Jacqueline Floyd both of Troy; brother, Neal Brantley of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Linda Brantley of Troy; brothers-in-law and sisters- in law, Glenn and Karen Ridenour of LaFollette and Terry and Alta Ridenour of Clinton and several nieces and nephews.
